I've been pretty immersed in character development lately. Today I finally reached a point where I can kind of relax, look back, and let it stew for a while. I think it's important I put it down for a little bit and come back to it later. A lot of what I've done is expand on ideas I already had, but some of the material is very new and needs time to adjust. One of the biggest changes I've made (and honestly, the one that effects ME on the deepest level) is changing Gale's magic. I've taken away the sense of invulnerability I've always privately associated with him. It's been difficult to do that without effecting his personality, but I think I've managed. When I decided to change his magic I screwed up my entire system, so I had to back track and reassemble that too.
I'm not sure what got this ball rolling, but I think it had something to do with designing Cara's apartment for the comic. I don't know how exactly I went from apartment, to greek history, to holy-crap-change-EVERYTHING, but I did. I think that tells me just how involved in my material Gale is. I couldn't touch him without flipping the world over. Ironic, because his part in Buca Switch is pretty small, until I get into Cara's history. Which I wont' for a while. He still has magic (and honestly, nothing about him that any of YOU have seen has changed. Seeing as I rarely drew him doing magic anyway), but it takes a different form. You can read more about Gale's changes (his birthmark is also bigger now, there's a second part on his neck) through tumblr. [link] You can also catch sketches like these and long dribbling descriptions in real time. I promise, there is NO shortage of long dribbling descriptions. XD
No shortage indeed; those things are long! xD I want to go back and read all those things on Tumblr but I've been wrapped up in school so maybe I wont be able to. D:
ANYHOW love your tumblr doodles and all this character development, it's a lot of fun to watch!
